Job Description :

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a reporter to cover the French government and economy, based in Paris.

France stands at the intersection of stories that define our times, from the rise of populism to the uncertain future of the European Union and the scourge of global terrorism.

The French economy, the eurozone’s second largest, is back on its feet after years in the doldrums a shift the country’s new president, Emmanuel Macron, is seeking to leverage as he reestablishes France’s place on the European and international stage.

The reporter will be expected to roam the halls of the Macron government, from the Elysee Palace to the finance ministry, while working across borders with his colleagues in Brussels, Berlin, Washington and other key capitals.

Candidates should have a solid track record of delivering scoops as well as the ability to spring to action whenever news is breaking.

A knack for storytelling is key as the reporter will work closely with the Paris bureau chief to craft deeply reported enterprise features.

Fluency in French is mandatory.
