The Plant Superintendant (PSI) to :
manage company assets (the plant), plant employees, and contractors within all applicable laws and procedures while meeting or exceeding location, business unit and corporate objectives;
provide leadership, technical knowledge and operational experience toward achieving safety performance, costs, operating efficiencies, quality products, engaged, high performing employees, and providing service to customers equal to, or better than the best in our industry;
advocate and support change and innovation, whilst creating a climate where innovation is recognized and thrives;
represent Cargill as Plant Manager in Works Counsil Meetings and be principal contact person for local authorities;
lead the team in community related activities that ensure Cargill is a valued member of that community.
35% General :
Responsible for all plant operational tasks to ensure safe operations, optimum utilization of raw material, assets and personnel through careful employment of all available resources;
Provide a safe working environment through safety training, sound house-keeping practices and process safety according to legislation and Cargill standards, ensure proper preparation and coordination of all critical permits;
Execute and champion Cargill food and feed safety, environment, health and safety policies in plant operations. Participate in investigation for all incidents, act as RCA-
leader for certain incidents;
Prepare and manage the operational budget. Track expenditures in each area, make adjustments to control costs as needed, and communicate progress to all relevant stakeholders.
Measure employee engagement and develop actions to create a motivated and productive workforce according to Business Unit and Company expectations
Coordinate cross-departmental stop planning (needed for maintenance, execution of the investment projects, etc);
Lead guiding / coaching new supervisors and TMT’s;
Leadership in annual planning for the plant, set standards, goals and priorities based on the Functional / BU business plan.
Track results through balanced scorecards and communicate results with employees;
Provide monthly reports to Regional Plant Superintendent.
30% Production Related :
Meet quality specifications and customer requirements through proper employee training, leadership and process measurement and control
Provide coaching and support for Shift Supervisors with the aim to facilitate a successful plant efficiency improvement;
Leads on site Profitability Improvement program;
Actively promote and facilitates close cooperation (a) between Production, Quality and M&R in order to ensure and improve operational reliability, product quality, people engagement and (b) with other locations to ensure exchange of experience / best practices.
Support for the development of training plans for operators
Anticipate on, recognize and take action for events / situations that could adversely affect production efficiencies and provide experienced support for :
Second line trouble shooting, preparation and execution of improvement projects (f.e. improvement projects from the Action Planning Matrix)
Implementation of leading practices in terms of production cost control (f.e. yield, supplies, packaging materials)
Identification of operator development opportunities and development of improvement plans
20% Reliability Excellence related :
Monitor general maintenance of plant equipment to achieve an highly reliable plant
Provide coaching and support for the Maintenance Technicians with the aim to ensure and improve operational reliability though on-
time maintenance activities execution, Work-Flow Process management and proper utilization of Cargill maintenance and reliability practices (tools and technics);
Keep abreast of technical developments by maintaining contact with other Cargill plants, suppliers and study of relevant literature.
Provide experienced support for :
Integration of Maintenance Team in the GORBE Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) organization (encouraging networking with peers)
Implementation of best practices in the area of M&R
The selection and hiring process for a new maintenance personnel
15% Capital excellence :
Prepare capital commitments for all projects and execute approved ones meeting scope, budget and schedule; negotiate requests for funds with approving source;
Ensure the input of the relevant COE is used prior to CR submission to ensure an acceptable PDRI is achieved
Provide cross-departmental support between production, utility, maintenance and the project team with the aim to facilitate smooth integration of the upcoming investment projects
Interfacing between production and project teams including coordination of production related resources and communication according to respective project stages, f.
e. construction and erection, commissioning, startup, normal operation.
Regular cross-functional alignment of project planning
Define the necessary content for the documentation packages for the production, maintenance and utility functions
Othersee other smaller projects and establish MOC framework for the project execution phase
Technical education (Bachelor, preferably Master in Engineering / Science in Mechanics, Process engineering)
English in word and writing
French in word and writing
5-7 years experience in plant operations, supervisor level and up
Production experience is a must, preferably combined with maintenance and / or project experience
Several years experience in food / feed branch
Good understanding of bottling and packaging
Good understanding of Plant Management systems, basic understanding of ACAD, MS Project
Basic financial knowledge (Manufacturing cost; base, non-base capital)
