Job Description

The central operations finance team develops, maintains and supports profitability planning, reporting and analysis for EMEA cost of goods sold, and supports the EMEA Operations organization (Plants, Purchasing & Trade Goods, Logistics, Order fulfilment, Quality and Material Management) in a wide variety of functions.

We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst in preparation for a transition to occur on our team and will report thru the local EMEA FP&A ( financial planning and analysis’) operations finance team or Grand Rapids team manager, part of a global team spread across Grand Rapids, Schiltigheim and Cluj and interacts regularly with Asia Pacific.

The role will be connecting extensively with a diverse group of professionals within the EMEA finance organization and regularly collaborates with operation business units and related finance functions such as plant operations, purchasing controlling and logistics controlling.

  • Coordinate accurate monthly accounting closing activities for the EMEA operations finance team (such as monthly cut off entries, inventory evaluation) and ensure that the COGS and inventory accounts are reviewed and closed duly in time.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial planning, reporting and analysis activities for the Operations FP&A team, operations management team and Steelcase Inc. FP&A group.
  • Drive consistency within the European operations accounting and reporting environment, and liaise with Americas and APAC finance operations groups.
  • Lead and coordinate initiatives with other teams within Operations functions (i.e. PDM, MM) or within finance (i.e. Finance Integrated Solutions Team, corporate finance).
  • Analyze operations reporting and accounting flows to holistically understand and improve our Operations COGS understanding between the most detailed level (material master data correction, costing calculation, transfer price calculation) to the top level (global management and legal reporting including intercompany flows / elimination across regional legal entities and abroad).

  • Strong financial and strategic analysis capabilities including ability to balance reliability and validity thinking and to quickly iterate and solve pressing challenges.
  • Thorough business model understanding. Ability to understand and communicate the big and global picture.

  • Strong communication skills. Excellence in producing data, storytelling and preparing decision making. Ability to lead in situations with tensions or opposing viewpoints a plus.

  • Required Experience

  • Master degree in Accounting / Finance / Business
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting flows or related Operations experience preferred
  • Experience in FP&A functions valued
  • Strong Excel, Powerpoint and other application skills
  • Strong English speaking skills
  • French / German / Spanish / Czech / Romanian a plus
