The Sotheby's Paris IT Manager will assist in holding the Managed Service Provider (MSP) (consisting of 2 End User Support personnel) and vendors accountable to follow the global standards that are in place and to ensure a proactive culture built on transparency, collaboration with solid communication.
The Paris IT Manager is the main ambassador of IT in Paris and as such will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, business acumen, be tactful and diplomatic as well as a sense of responsibility and ownership to see IT and AV issues and projects through to resolution.
Represent IT to senior leadership in European offices.
Assist in defining global IT standards and improving processes.
Provide day-to-day technical support to our colleagues (typically break / fix items) including the support of Audio-Visual equipment and on-going technical sale support within the Paris and surrounding locations.
Work in conjunction with members of Operations and Product & Technology teams to oversee, support and manage IT / AV needs related to sales and projects.
Assist in the monitoring and validation of MSP reports that measure performance across the Paris IT Team, while contributing to the overall strategy in improving service delivery.
Follow best practices and continuously seek improvement at IT service delivery within the Paris region.
Work with global IT finance and IT executive management to help manage budgeting, forecasting, procurement submissions and propose cost savings and efficiencies.
Assist in negotiating vendor / consultant contracts or portions of larger contracts, adhering to financial guidelines and optimizing the terms for Sotheby’s.
Travel to Sotheby’s European offices to support sales and assist with hardware upgrades and local support as needed.
Together with the larger EMEA support team, provide on and off-site site auction sale planning, set-up and support for regional offices as needed.
Assist in identifying and recommending new global technology solutions.
Support local recruitment activities as and when necessary.
Shares knowledge and best practices with others while leading by example at all times.
Maintains high standards of ethics and integrity and adheres to legal, compliance and information security requirements.
Degree educated or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience of end user support in a global IT environment with at least 2 years’ managing a technical team.
Experience in IT project planning including allocation of resources and budgets.
Understanding of network protocols in particular and global network architecture in general, sufficient to support and troubleshoot connectivity issues and to maintain the regional network via WI-FI / cabling / hubs and switches.
Understanding of mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, Samsung, etc.) in order to assist troubleshooting them within our corporate environment.
Working knowledge of Audio-Visual technologies (video conference and video production equipment, digital media equipment.

Working knowledge of a helpdesk call logging system, sufficient to allow consistent input of all calls dealt with and analysis of such calls.
Use effective problem-solving techniques, to support and restore normal service due to any production problems and to minimize the impact to the department or business.
Strong communication skills, tactful, enthusiastic, confident, able to work independently as well as part of a team, and with a flexible approach to meeting changing business requirements.
Excellent written and verbal English and fluent French language skills highly desirable.
Good business understanding, including budgetary processes and terms.
Works well as part of a global leadership team and pitches in to help others when necessary.
Can demonstrate an understanding of the auction business and his / her own area of expertise preferred.
