Senior Process Engineer - International CAPEX projects
Within the frame of the JADE Project - a new talc plant shall be built in China meeting the following specifications :
60 M$ investment
Full new plant inside an existing Imerys Site at Wuhu China
30 000 m²
350 main equipment
Technologies involving crushing, roller mills, micronisation, wet and dry compactor, HAR product line
This job will take place :
During the end of Basic Engineering until the approval of CER : basically in Europe with some possible travels in China.
After CER’s approval and start of execution phase, the job will take place basically in Europe, in close connection with French and Austrian reference plants and also with the pre-selected engineering company based in Austria.
However the candidate should have the availability for frequent travels and stays in China during the course of execution phase, either at Imerys future hosting site at Wuhu or at the offices of the future Chinese Engineering Company (EC), not yet chosen at the time of the preparation of this note.
During his travels to China, it is expected the candidate to spend more time at Chinese EC during the detail engineering phase and later on to spend more time on job site at Wuhu during the construction phase, commissioning and start-up phase.
Key accountabilities :
They will be structured around the 2 engineering centers for the project :
1. Engineering Center based in Austria
The basic mission of this center is to develop the detail engineering and procurement activities linked with the Black Boxes and Sensitive Items defined for JADE, including automation and control architecture ( 8 BB + SEI and automation)
Associated Activities :
A. Supervise the activities of Austrian Engineering Center, as per scope defined in the execution contract to be signed with Imerys closely linked with the development of black boxes, sensitive items and long lead items, all of them purchased in Europe :
Finalization and signature of related PO’s
Detail Engineering around BB, SEI and LLI together with Austrian Engineering Company
Integration of Imerys Know How collected from reference plants into detail engineering
Ensuring the good integration of BB, SEI, LLI in the detail engineering being performed by Chinese Engineering Center
B. Be the central point to collect all the necessary information and know-how from Imerys References Plants in France ( Luzenac, Aix-sur-Viennes), Belgium ( Gent) and Austria ( Oberfeierdirtz, Weisskirchen) as per the particular sensitive points listed in the Process Mapping document defined for JADE.
C. In case the available information is not enough to support JADE’s detail engineering, the Senior Process Engineer should implement a retro-engineering strategy consistent with JADE’s Time Schedule together with reference plants in order to retrieve the necessary missing information
D. Supervise the engineering activities around the development of the automation and control architecture ( detailed control narratives to be performed by an entity still to be defined, maybe the Austrian Engineering Company).
2. Engineering Center based in China
With the direct support of Imerys Chinese Process Engineer based full time in China, the Senior Process Engineer ensures the consistency between both engineering centers’ activities in Austria and China, particularly at the interfaces between the BB, SEI and LLI and the remaining parts of JADE’s plant inside the scope of Chinese Engineering Company.
Associated Activities ( to be carried out together with local engineering support ) :
Process engineering validation of documents issued by Chinese Engineering Company (equipment, instrument and pressure relief valve specifications ;
equipment plans, detailed layouts ; P&IDs ; critical lines ; lists ; detailed functional analysis, etc.)
Attendance to 3D model reviews and validation of process constraints for layout
Technical recommendation for suppliers on the basis of bid comparison tables
Contribution to technical clarification meetings with suppliers
Contribution to package HazOp reviews, as far as necessary
Validation of detailed process engineering features (vessel internals, piping, )
Issuing the Operating Manual with Operating Team’s support
Technical support to Operating Team for meetings with third parties : raw material suppliers, utility suppliers, Authorities, etc.
Regular reporting of progress, difficulties, specific process needs
List of changes due to process and validation
Support for development of the dynamic simulation tool ( optional)
Management of deviations for process related topics
Integration of BB, SEI and LLI purchased and engineered in Europe in the detail engineering performed by Chinese Engineering Center.
Participation in pre start-up & Start-up associated activities may also be expected in this role.
Confirmed Senior Process Engineer in Mineral Process, ideally with knowledge in Talc production
Availability for frequent travels in Europe ( France, Austria, Belgium) and China.
Full english proficiency. French and German languages would be a major advantage in order to facilitate communication with people from reference plants in Austria and in France.
Have safety ( process, occupational ) as his first priority when developing his process work since the conceptual phase until start-up
Extensive process experience in Mineral Plants ( several years )
Skills to scrutinize solutions and propose optimized answers using technical-cost approaches.
Capability to identify gaps to the project strategy and propose solutions
Capability to interface and collect process know how with process experts from mineral reference plants in the group.
Capability to promote and implement retro-engineering strategies in case of absence of proper documentation about Imerys processes.
Have an easy communication toward the Imerys reference plant experts
Capability to lead other senior and junior process engineers ( leadership skills, group motivation)
Comfortable with work in international environment
Mastership of English language
Be familiar with process activities in the frame of CAPEX projects particularly when working with external engineering companies or, if not, be open to learn new working methodologies in a structured way like PID’s reviews, 3D Model reviews, HAZOP reviews.
Familiar with basic Microsoft Softwares like EXCEL, WORD, Power Point, PDF and working with Google Drive, or similar tools like SharePoint, PIRS.
