Mission :

  • Responsible for leading product development efforts that consist of one or more projects under development for a specific platform or business segment.
  • Responsible for leading all aspects of development on their program, that may cover from the start of the Concept or Definition Phase through successful completion of the Launch Phase and Program closeout (i.
  • e. commercialization and transition of product into normal business operations or Life Cycle Management processes).

  • Lead the team in achieving cost, schedule, and performance goals of the Program, including commercial success.
  • Work is performed without appreciable directions. Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Liaison : represents the organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Proposes potential inventions and inform BD in accordance with BD Intellectual Property (IP) Process.
  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principals.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsibilities :

    Development responsibility

  • The Staff Engineer ensures product design fits intended customer needs
  • He leads and directs the cross-functional activities and outcomes of a Product Development project or roadmap of projects : Defines refines, and understands customer requirements;
  • spends time with customers / end-users and understands customer environment.Performs architecting or refining of high-level product concept to fulfill the customer requirements.

    Leads the creation and follows up the cross-functional Program plan, including budget, resource and capex planning, to fulfill the development activities.

    Provides work definition and direction to the assigned cross-functional Core Team MembersAligns, sets priorities and manages all cross-

    functional activities to deliver the product on time and on budget per contract while meeting agreed upon technical, operational, business and customer requirements.

    Frequently reports program progress to Sr. managementEliminates or minimizes barriers to progress, raises significant hurdles to Sr.

    management's attention for resolution

  • Works with the Finance and Marketing Core Team Members to develop the financial analysis of the Program and to meet project key value drivers.
  • Accounts for successful commercial, operation, design, and business reviews, delivering recommendations, escalating as appropriate risks / issues / concerns of the team
  • Organizational Development

  • Associate development : Actively mentor associates in related technical roles. Provide technical direction and frequent feedback.
  • Participate and assist in their success. Continue to raise the bar on technical skills and help associates rise to expectations.

    Advise management of technical needs and desired skill mix.

  • Recruiting and talent retention : Help managers establish a high bar for recruiting technical talent. Ensure excellence in technical recruiting.
  • Scope & impact :

  • Decisions of the Staff Engineer have an impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditure or additional time, human resources and funds.
  • Frequently interacts with customers and / or functional group managers. Must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
  • Interacts with Customers & with senior external personnel on significant product matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

    Minimum 8 years' experience in project management
