Position Overview

The primary function of an Esthetician is to assume the following job responsibilities : The lead esthetician provides treatments to guests and acts as a liaison between providers and the spa management team.

The lead esthetician models exceptional guest service for the team and assists and supports the providers with their daily tasks, monitors opening and closing procedures, and ensures compliance with daily procedures and treatment protocols.

Provides quality service to ensure positive results reflected in LQA, AAA, Forbes standard results and guest comment cards.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.

  • Provide waxing and skincare services to guests. Assess guest needs, inquire about contraindications, and examine skin, hair, or nails to evaluate condition, appearance, and appropriateness of scheduled service
  • Determine and advise guests on proper skin, hair, or nail care and recommend home care regimens. Promote and sell spa / salon services and retail products
  • Escort guests to and from treatment rooms
  • Set up workstation and / or treatment room with necessary products, equipment, and supplies to ensure guest comfort and safety
  • Clean, maintain, and sterilize tools. Monitor and stick to time schedule throughout the day. Maintain current licensure in service area
  • Handle inappropriate guest or employee behavior by stopping service and informing supervisor / manager
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Follow all company policies and procedures;
  • ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets

  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities;
  • thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.

  • Act as manager on duty in absences of Spa Director and Spa Desk Supervisor.
  • Assist in overall spa operations, such as : laundry, engineering, laundry, booking, tours, special request, etc.
  • Perform any other job related duties as required and requested by Area Director of Spa and Retail.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stand for up to 8 hours.

    Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, use hand, finger and wrist dexterity. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.


    3+ years of experience preferably in a luxury hotel or resort setting.


    1-3 years of experience in facials and waxing with familiarity in a variety of skin care lines, preferably in a management setting.


    Ability to read, write analyze, speak, and interpret English.


    Ability to work with mathematical concepts necessary for retail sales. Apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations.

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages


    Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret instructions and guidelines set by the hotel’s policy and procedures.
