PURPOSE :

The Legal Team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support our European business, to be located in Europe, preferably in France, Germany, or the United Kingdom.

The Legal Team currently supports the business with lawyers in China, Germany, Scotland, Spain, and the U.S. The selected candidate will play a key role in providing support for Berry Sales, Procurement, IMS, Finance, Operations, HR, and other Berry teams in their ongoing contract, real estate, and other commercial matters.

RESPONSIBLITIES :

  • Provide senior level support of and partnership across all Berry divisions with legal needs in Europe;
  • Handle contract, lease, and NDA reviews and negotiations; corporate filings and maintenance; business counseling including anti-trust analysis;
  • GDPR oversight; and commercial disputes;
  • Collaborate with members of the Legal Team to implement a global framework for the delivery of legal services to support Berry’s global business;
  • Collaborate with members of the Legal Team to develop a best in class team which partners with the business in a timely and effective way to drive profitability, business growth, and success;
  • Engage in continuous learning of the business through formal and self-directed activities;
  • Collaborate with the Legal Team to identify, develop and implement forms and processes to improve the efficiency of handling internal legal matters;
  • Partner and communicate with all levels of the business, including the executive staff;
  • Identify and analyze risk and communicate the same and mitigation activities to the appropriate levels of the business;
  • Assist in the management of outside counsel who are handling legal matters to ensure overall quality and value of legal services.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • The successful candidate must have a law degree with qualification to practice law in a European country, preferably France, Germany, and / or Great Britain;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within a law firm and / or corporate in-house setting with demonstrated excellence;
  • Experience handling contracts, real estate, data privacy, and other commercial matters;
  • Ability to develop excellent partnerships with executive-level leaders;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; high energy; a desire to learn; and a commitment to the highest ethical standards;
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legal issues in compliant, but also creative, business friendly, and cost-effective ways with an appropriate sense of urgency.
