Manage a team of product engineers, laboratory technicians and engineering administrators. Engineers may be local to site or based elsewhere (GEC India)
Working with the team, will manage and be responsible for all New Product Development activities and the completion of key product objectives on a timely basis.
Manage all Value Engineering actions by working closing with Sourcing and commodity leaders to ensure AOP targets are achieved.
Manage an engineering lab and technicians as well as documentation adminstrators. Maintain, drive and organize department processes and protocol.
Leverage other Pentair companies (globally) as well as 3rd Party Companies to bring new products and / or new technologies to the Europe markets.
Perform as a working manager by leading own project initiatives as self-assigned or assigned by Pool BU management.
Working closing with Procurement and Supply, will manage the phase-in and phase-out of all engineering transactions.
Will ensure proper, accurate and timely communication to BU management team, local management and individual team.
Own full responsibilities of agency compliance for Europe. Ensure all products comply with those directives and are documented in accordance to proper policy.
Define, recommend and drive engineering objectives, develop specific short and long range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests.
Reporting into the Pool BU Europe Director will require detailed project updates, summaries, counter-measures, deadlines, budget status, etc.
Develop annual engineering budget plans including engineering and technology requirements, value engineering initiatives, product testing and validation, and sustaining engineering requirements.
Coordinate with manufacturing, accounting, product management, maintenance and other departments in the accomplishment of engineering goals.
Ensure prompt and accurate drawings and product spec analysis including CAD design, validation, and print to spec requirements.
Conduct studies to ensure the department continues to operate in a cost efficient manner as technology, legal, regulatory, policy and product changes are implemented.
Coordinate simultaneously hardware developments with local team and software / app developments with GEC (India).
Key Qualifications :
Bachelor / Master Degree required in Engineering or Product Development related discipline mechanical / electrical preferred.
Business degree is a plus.
Ideal candidate will possess minimum of 7 years experience in Product Engineering and minimum 4 years in Engineering Management.
Experience in leading multiple projects across multiple resources simultaneously. Managing both high and low impact projects with critical target dates utilizing solid Project Management skills to ensure success / completion.
Experience in both waterfall / stage-gate and Agile development methodologies.
Ability to prioritize projects, coordinate team members and other departments, hold all parties accountable, drive projects to completion.
In depth understand of European regulatory matters (CE, TUV, etc) is a plus
Good interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate both written and orally as well as good team building skills.
Excellent PC Skills : PowerPoint, Excel and SAP are ideal
English and a second language either French or Italian
The individual must be a hands-on self-starting team player with a good working knowledge in the fundamentals of solid and fluid mechanics.
Must be able to work within and meet aggressive deadlines. Candidate must be detail oriented, have solid organizational skills, be capable of multi-tasking and have strong written and oral communication skills.
Some domestic and international travel is required.
