General Assignment

Through a secondment to Edvance UK, your initial role will be to contribute to the completion of the Hinkley Point C design phase.

  • The Joint Design Organization (JDO) is an integrated team composed of teams from : the HPC Client (NNB), who leads the JDO;
  • EDVANCE and CNEPE and Contractors who have carried out the detailed design studies. As part of its scope of delegation, JDO provides technical support at the HPC EPR site for the resolution of the various problems arising during the construction phases and later during the testing and commissioning operations.

    The position of NPE-NPS piping engineer aims at support the field design activities for the piping discipline and to manage the subject related to pressurized equipment rules.

    Main Activities

  • Assess and answer technical issues arising during construction works, erection, commissioning and testing
  • resolution of open points and design changes related to piping discipline
  • being the main interlocutor regarding piping conformity assessment activities which include :
  • assessing the impact of open point and design changes in conformity
  • assessment documentation and activities
  • managing the interface with Client conformity team and with Back-offices
  • producing note defining design changes treatment strategy impacting conformity assessment and update them for improvement.
  • This role could be extended to all pressurized equipment including tanks, valves

  • Set in place process and methods to perform the above previous activities, and organize transverse workshops pertaining to the improvement of process and methods
  • working in connection with an international community of piping engineers, spread in several EDVANCE facilities Malakoff (France), CENPE facilities (Tour), Bristol (UK) and Erlangen (Germany)
  • interface with several stakeholder : system engineer to get operating condition, with layout and piping design team for the routing, equipment teams, valve team
  • contribution to UK-DC (modification process) in raising modification and / or defining the impact of modification created by others
  • ready to work in a strong project mode, with high expectation in term of time delivery schedule but in always respecting quality.
  • Profile

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential :

    Science, mechanical engineering degree

    working experience in pressurized equipment / piping conformity assessment with interface with third parties

    knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive, ESPN and / or NPE / NPS

    knowledge of RCC-M code

    experience working in a multicultural environment

    Desirable :

  • Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies / doctrine is a real asset
  • experience on wide projects.

  • Location :

    This role requires you to reside within a 30-minute commute of a Hinkley Point C park and ride due to safety concerns (relocation support is availabe).
