Purpose of the Job
System Application Architects are the Signalling Systems technical leaders in charge of tendering and pre-tendering activitie, as well as technical referents for projects in deployment phase.
As such, they are in charge of :
Defining the best design proposal and deployment strategy to fulfil customers' expectations;
Sharing the technical needs and agreeing on the technical solution with tender teams, customer interface teams, development teams, as well as with strategic managers;
Communicating about Urban Solutions and their main assets externally to potential customers, as well as internally for promotion and training purposes;
Participating to other Signalling innovative Programs as System experts.
System Application Architects have a key role in defining the next steps of our Signalling Solutions for future applications, in consistency with platform reuse strategy and market needs.
System Application Architects report to the Urban Technical Manager
Detailed Responsabilities and Tasks
As a System Application Architect, you will :
Master overall design scope of the tender, or pre-tendering activity;
Contribute to Alstom strategy by determining high level technical drivers to evaluate our Signalling Solutions adequacy to the markets;
Evaluate compliance to customer requirements and review other stakeholders analysis to ensure an homogeneous solution;
Organize design workshops with relevant stakeholders (including Development Center teams) ;
Contribute to Tender or project Design Reviews, tender documentation production or project documentation review, external interfaces management, system principles understanding, architecture, deployment and migration strategies definition;
Define the list of evolutions of the Signalling systems to be quoted and follow-up quotation activities; end then ensure development activities are aligned with Projects Needs
Support Project teams in understanding the design of the Urban Signalling systems and deploying the Signalling systems;
Prepare, and participate to technical presentations internal or to the customer during the pre-tendering and tendering process;
or during process deployment
Minimize, by design, the System deployment cost, lead time and risk;
Ensure that the system follows standardization approach by reusing existing solutions or by defining reusable solutions;
Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE, process );
Promote Urban Signalling Systems internally through presentations and trainings;
As Signalling System experts, participate to other Signalling innovative Programs.
Education and Skills
To fill this position, we are looking for the following profile :
Mandatory education level : Masters Degree in Engineering, or equivalent College degree (specialization in a field related to Railway Transportation Systems is a plus);
Experience level : Minimum 8 years of experience or more in similar activities (system design, project engineering, validation or safety assessment) in Transport sector, experience in Railway Signalling would be appreciated;
Strong problem solving skills : logical and analytical approach, with a creative mind, capable of synthesizing issues and making reasoned decisions, as well as leading technical topics autonomously;
Strong communication, collaboration and leading skills : team player, open and motivated by multicultural environments, at ease for customer presentations and technical coordination;
Speaking and writing English fluently is mandatory, good knowledge of French is required.
