Job Summary

Responsibilities and Duties :

Fulfill legislative obligations related to the RSPP function.

Provide advice to the Site / Plant / Mine manager for all EHS related issues.

Carry out the identification of all risk factors, risk assessment and identification of the measures for the safety and health of the workplace, in collaboration with the Site Manager and in compliance with current legislation on the basis of the specific knowledge of the company organization, and subsequent updates.

  • Develop preventive and protective measures necessary to eliminate or reduce the risks identified and the control systems for these measures;
  • identify the protective devices to be adopted.

    Carry out regular gap-analysis reports between actual work places or procedural aspects and legal compliance requirements on safety, environment and health topics, promptly advising Site and Plant / Mine managers in order to develop the proper corrective plans.

    Draw up EHS related procedures and train personnel.

    Report correctly and promptly to the Site Manager anomalies and deficiencies, propose and manage solutions.

    Propose information and training programs for workers, identifying, with regards to EHS aspects, the training needs of employees, highlighting the training necessary to fulfill legislative requirements, preparing support material for internal training.

    Train workers on the topics within the EHS competence : risk assessment, internal EHS rules, PPE to be used, EHS protocols and procedures, emergency procedures on prevention and protection measures, etc ...

  • Organize and conduct meetings regarding the protection of health and safety at work, as well as the periodic annual meeting in which it participates with the Site Manager, the Company Doctor and the Workers' Safety Representative;
  • as well as the mine and plant EHS Committee meetings per established deadlines.

    Develop, keep updated and strengthen the EHS management system based on the standards of the Imerys Group, the legislative provisions, the ISO standards (environmental management manual, safety procedures, environmental procedures)

    Define and keep up-to-date emergency and crisis management plans in collaboration with the other managers involved. Coordinate the crisis management team in collaboration with the Team Leader or in his replacement, ensuring compliance with the procedures and requirements defined by the company and the Imerys Group.

    Propose and define together with the Site Manager the objectives and strategies for improving EHS performances.

    Carry out and keep updated the assessment of environmental impacts, identify improvement actions to reduce and eliminate the identified impacts.

    Collaborate in the management of contractors in compliance with the regulatory requirements and procedures of the Imerys Group.

    Manage, together with the required management, the ISO 14001 certification audits, insurance audits and any Group Audit that has to do with EHS matters (either in full or part).

    Analyze, in collaboration with the Site Managers, all potentially serious injuries, accidents and near misses, defining the necessary corrective actions promoting a on site safety culture based on reporting unsafe conditions and actions / behaviors, near misses and safety observations.

    Manage and coordinate with the Company Doctor the health surveillance and any problems relating to the health of all employees of the company.

    Manage all relations with the competent EHS authorities and prepare any necessary documentation.

    Carry out internal inspections and audits at production sites.

    Participate in inspections by the competent authorities concerning the EHS sector (Region / Mining Police, Arpa, ASL, etc. ..).

    Prepare / maintain EHS reports and KPIs on the basis of legislative obligations and internal needs.

    Qualifications& Experience

    Education level : master degree (HSE Engineer or other Engineer or with similar link with mining activities)

    Experience : +3 years experience in HSE function preferable in a multinational Corporation.

    Certifications : certification for Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione (RSPP) as required by national regulation with module B cod. Ateco 3 e 4

    Skills & Person Specification

    Specific skills / qualifications : knowledge in HSE Management Systems. Sustainable Development. Legal compliance and ethics.

    Legal Advice (desired). Auditor (desired). Management skills. Communication and presentation skills. Good working knowledge in OFFICE package utilization.

    Training on risks prevention and protection. Organization and management of technical administrative activities. Communication techniques in the company and in Unions relations.

    Environment expertise (ISO knowledge). Risk assessment skills and techniques. Incident analysis skills and technique.

    Language : Fluent in English. Italian mother tongue.

    Personal characteristics : hands-on. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and highly persuasive. Objective oriented.
