About the role :
The Senior Buyer ensures parts availability through the production process while maintaining overall cost (and inventory, depending on allocation) at the lowest level and highest quality, while maintaining daily contact with suppliers.
The difference to the buyer role lies in the increased complexity due to technical aspects of parts in scope & commercial context, market conditions and other factors.
Tendency to participate in initial project phase or in buying completely new material and evaluating risks.
Key responsibilities :
1. Manage purchase contracts for projects & operation within scope
Ensures material delivery and analyses and monitors parts to ensure coverage to meet production schedule
Defines purchasing strategy jointly with Operations with regards to on-time-delivery
Initiates quantity and technical modifications
Collaborates with other functions to ensure project success by representing Supply Management at meetings and work autonomously to resolve problems
Assesses risk in the supply and align with Procurement Project Manager on acceptable level of risk of the project and take it into consideration for the commercial negotiation with the supplier
2. Develops supplier best in class’ performance
Maintains fluent relationship with suppliers and expedites suppliers to ensure delivery of purchase parts on time
Negotiates with suppliers and issue purchase orders or entire frame contract for dedicated projects, while administering terms and conditions
Designs new supplier practices from pure material delivery to extended services, like inventory management, logistics, mounting
Explores continuously material cost reduction opportunities
Engineering Degree, Commercial Degree with technical background
Typically 5-8 years relevant experience (Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility)
Knowledge of computer and software with the ability to provide timely, accurate, and detailed reports to management when required
Must also demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and innovation in his / her position
Language skills : French advanced, English professional.
