Job Description :

The Global Procurement Category Leader will be responsible for a spend of 100M€ related to Commercial Operations : Marketing, Communication, Medical Education

His / her responsibilities will be to design, build, communicate and support implementation of Category Sourcing Strategies with close alignment with Commercial stakeholders and Global Procurement Team to ultimately deliver added value to the business.

He / she will contribute to the strategic development of your portfolio and will ensure the robust delivery through clear and measurable benefits.

Category Management

  • Drive Category Management process for the assigned categories.
  • Be the Procurement Subject Matter Expert on assigned categories.
  • Identify and classify new opportunities through best in class category management processes with strong alignment with Internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic planning : Develop long term strategic category plans for the assigned categories
  • Develop best procurement practices and support implementation of these practices in all Ipsen sites and affiliates
  • Maintain the highest-level code of conduct and ethics.
  • Ensure that all the key suppliers within the category assigned adhered Ipsen Ethics & Compliance code
  • Contribute to the development of Procurement objectives, strategy, processes & tools.
  • Define the Procurement Category strategy

    Be responsible for Sourcing Strategies processes already existing or to be defined.

    These main activities would include the following but are not limited to :


  • Understand Company objectives and how they derive into business strategies and priorities
  • Design and build appropriate category and sourcing strategies with inputs coming from buyers and Procurement Managers
  • Build and manage IPSEN Supplier Capabilities Map for the assigned categories in alignment with IPSEN business strategy
  • Establish Stakeholder Mapping for the assigned categories : Develop and execute a Stakeholder Engagement plan in alignment with buyers and Procurement Managers.
  • Engage upstream with Business key leaders to provide stewardship for Third Party spend management
  • When relevant, align and agree with buyers and Procurement managers on Global strategies and Local strategies design and execution
  • Develop a Preferred Supplier List for the assigned categories.
  • Develop communication package and tools to support implementation of category strategies and plans.

  • With the support of buyers and procurement managers, oversees the implementation of category plans
  • Support the buyers and Procurement Managers on various engagementsLead some key operational initiatives and manage RFP processes until contract execution to support Business projects
  • Identify opportunities for Global Master Service Agreements implementation working closely with Business Stakeholders
  • Manage Global agreements design and run global negotiation.
  • Monitor MSA execution, compliance and deviation.
  • Proactively assess internal and external process improvement, influence effective change, drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Supplier Relationship Management

    Be responsible for SRM processes already existing or to be defined.

    These main activities would include the following but are not limited to :


  • Build SRM strategy and objectives according to SRM program.
  • Lead and manage the Supplier Relationship Management activities with key vendors
  • Build robust partnerships with strategic vendors.
  • Review, improve and run the best vendor governance structure and procedures for assigned categories
  • Be accountable for preparing and leading Supplier governance meetings
  • Manage and track Supplier performance and innovation with defined KPI
  • Manage key supplier interactions, communication process across the organization
  • Manage supplier lifecycle (engagement, development plan, maintaining plan, exit)
  • Assess the relationship through assessment at organization level
  • Contribute to the development & management of the Procurement community

  • Be responsible for Category Procurement performance.
  • Promote, facilitate & support compliance of Category sourcing strategies, processes & tools.
  • For assigned categories, develop network category Procurement skills through training, knowledge and best practices sharing.
  • Animate buyers and Procurement Managers community on category & market updates, best practices and information sharing.
  • Contribute to develop & implement category-focused communication plan.
  • Contribute to drive a culture of teamwork and project management good practices.
  • Experience & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in management with preferably specialization in Procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in Procurement in an international environment
  • Proven success in delivering competitive advantage to the business and in leading projects
  • Experience in negotiation in cross functional and cross market teams
  • Demonstrated successful use of risk management and supplier relation management
  • Language : Fluent in English .
