The Technical Sales Consultant is a key role in contributing to the growth of business within the region, providing outstanding Technical Sales and consultancy support for AVEVA solutions and / or other supported client software and providing expert technical advice and consultancy to the AVEVA Sales teams through a close collaborative partnership.

The focus of the Technical Sales Consultant will be to directly assist the account managers and sales managers to understand potential opportunities and position AVEVA’s technologies as a solution.

This position is for someone with broad and deep experience in our industry, responsible for shaping and promoting the adoption of new theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies within the engineering area, with awareness of the impact on other disciplines.

The person will also have to provide leadership and technical supervision to technical staff to drive complex opportunity.

It is expected the person to be able to coach and advise more junior colleagues on nonstandard issues.


  • Communicate the value proposition of our solutions to prospects at presentations, workshops, industry events and seminars
  • Provide pre-sales services as requested by the sales team and to work directly with account managers to support account and opportunity plans and assist in finding and closing new business.
  • Planning, creating, developing and delivering demonstrations that present the value of our solutions
  • Engaging with prospects to understand specific needs / problems and then devise appropriate technical solutions.
  • Work with partners including consultants, system integrators, 3rd party hardware and software vendors
  • Planning, creating, organising and executing proof of concept / pilot to prospects / customers that prove the value of our technical solution to their specific needs / problems
  • Assists or contribute to selection & recruitment of new team members
  • Coaches, guides and mentors less experienced team members
  • Trains & develops new recruits
  • Preparing proposals and managing the end-to-end business capture process for complex business case solutions to solve specific prospect needs / problems
  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and possibly competing commitments at the same time.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and abroad to perform consultancy tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate the needs / problems of prospective customers.
  • The ability to effectively manage and handle multiple and possibly competing commitments simultaneously.
  • The ability to coach and guide more junior team members
  • Excellent proven customer-facing skills and presentation skills of complex technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience with technical proposals and the creation of proof of concept demonstrations
  • High level of expertise with the tools required to fulfil the obligations of the specific assignment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven 5 to 10 years or more experience and knowledge of Oil&Gas, Power or Chemical industry either from an owner-operator or an engineering contractor background.
