Job summary

Manage R&D for Natural Cosmetic Ingredients and Color

EssentialDuties & Responsibilities :

  • Analyze the currentrange and the axes of development in accordance with the brand in partnershipwith marketing
  • Build the biologycompetencies inside Sensient, in liaison with other BU and Group, with emphasison metabolic engineering
  • Addresses anddisseminates in the team the technology survey of Natural Colors andIngredients for Cosmetics
  • Initiates innovation projectsfor natural cosmetic color and ingredients taking in account ISO 16128 standard, regulatoryconstraints, cost efficiency, manufacturing processes.
  • Identifies raw materialsfor new and existing cosmetic product lines : Conduct analytical, experimental, andcharacterization in order to assess raw materials and their cosmetic potential.
  • Analyze / interpret data and recordresults.
  • Identifies investmentneeds and partnerships.
  • Coordinates efforts withManufacturing and Quality Control to ensure successful implementation of new workinstructions and updating and revising existing products work instructions tooptimize manufacturing processes.
  • Manages all research and development projects.
  • Develops and updates critical issues on a monthly basis to reflect accomplishments and priorities.
  • Ensures that all laboratory safety and environmental requirements are followed, consistent with internal and external guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensures that all safety issues of new processes are identified and properly addressed prior to implementation.
  • Active participant of New Product Development Team. Makes monthly presentations on the progress of each project. Provides a written monthly update to the Innovation Director.
  • Coordinates efforts with Manufacturing and Quality Control, to ensure successful implementation of new manufacturing processes (manufacturing work instructions) for new products developed prior to launch.
  • Assists in the preparation of yearly budgets consistent with R&D needs.
  • Conduct results and salary reviews and provide employees feedback on accomplishments and areas for improvement to direct report.
  • Ensures that all research work is documented in a manner acceptable to scientific standards.
  • Ensures that all proprietary scientific discoveries are properly documented and protected.
  • Provides R&D support to other Sensient manufacturing facilities as require.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Education& Experience :

  • Ph. D. Biology or Biotechnologies, or equivalent
  • High skills in experimental measurement methods
  • Professional level English and French mandatory
  • Skills& Abilities :

  • Ability to work in a structured and diligent manner with a high degree of precision.
  • Drive project work to completion in a timely manner to support business objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
