We are looking for an International Tax Manager.
What you’ll do on a typical day :
Business / Transactional Support Activities Manage and participate in reviews of ongoing business activities and proposed transactions to properly advise management of tax consequences and opportunities, with emphasis on tax efficiency and compliance with legal requirements.
Planning and Contractual Activities Partner with business and the US Tax group to pro-actively identify and research tax planning opportunities.
Implement structural and non-structural tax planning strategies, which maximize savings on a defensible basis. Interact with business, tax, and other individuals to ensure proper implementation of all tax planning projects.
Financial Reporting Manage and coordinate US GAAP tax reporting in the region. Support the Company’s accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) process, including deferred tax computations and Uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).
Manage the cash tax forecasts.
Legislative Activities Analyze, monitor and pursue legislative, regulatory, and judicial tax developments relevant to Company’s business operations.
Tax Audits and Controversies Lead and partner with Company personnel to successfully defend filing positions and to negotiate favorable resolutions of proposed deficiencies.
Coordinate outside advisers engaged to assist in tax controversy matters.
Compliance Support Assist accurate reporting on regional tax returns and in obtaining necessary information and documentation for use with tax returns, tax planning, and cash tax forecasts and work with businesses to improve tax data collection processes.
Undertake special projects, including transfer pricing and international projects, restructurings involving the region and provide support in M&A transactions
Support the VP Tax Europe and the US Tax Team on international projects and reorganizations involving the region, and on all EU transfer pricing matters.
Build-up a broad and dynamic network with XPO Logistics tax, legal and finance teams.
Act as a business partner providing the technical advice and the practical recommendations that is easy to understand.
Ensure tax modelling of business and corporate transactions with business and social acumen with a strong cash focus.
Manage the relationship with tax advisors to ensure that XPO Logistics is well positioned to effectively handle any unusual or unforeseen future issues.
What you need to succeed at XPO :
University degree, Master degree in Taxation or Finance or MBA
5-7 years of experience in an international working environment, preferably at a US multinational;
Big 4’ tax experience be a plus.
Proficient knowledge of European taxation with working knowledge of US tax rules
In-depth knowledge of direct and indirect EU tax regulations and of international tax principles
BEPS trained and focus
Working knowledge of US tax reporting and Tax controllership constraints
Strong tax analytics expertise
Local tax background in UK, France, Spain or Italy is a plus
Third European language is a plus
Effective interpersonal and presentation skills to liaise with cross-functional teams
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills with excellent sense of synthesis
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Hands-on and result oriented.
Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national company.
Strong organization skills, able to work under pressure with strict time and prioritization constraints
Open-minded and team player
Detailed oriented individual taking ownership of projects
